Newest Newlyweds: Katelyn & Austin

Just a few short weeks ago, our Waters Point family had the honor of uniting some of our recent newlyweds, Katelyn and Austin! The beautiful couple spent their wedding day getting ready with their loved ones in our luxury cabins, followed by a riverside ceremony and a night filled with dancing, laughter, and love. We asked the couple a few questions about their experience, and here is what they had to say:

How did the two of you meet?

“Austin and I have an interesting love story, that both my MOH and Austin’s Best Man referenced in their toasts on the big night! We initially met online, became friends and both dated other people for about a year. In April of 2016 Austin and I decided it would be a good idea to become roommates and move into a house together. Long story short- That “roommate” title quickly developed and although we don’t have an official “first date” we mark our dating anniversary sometime in July 2016.”

What made you decide on The Waters Point for your venue?

We toured several venues and could have pictured our wedding at a few, but as soon as we walked onto The Waters Point property we felt something different. When Natalie showed us the ceremony site on the water, we were sold. We also loved all the idea of having all our family and wedding party onsite in the cabins.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

My most memorable moments were seeing my nieces so excited to be flower girls, walking down the aisle to Austin and of course, our dogs’ involvement in the wedding!

How did you spend your honeymoon?

We traveled to Paris, Edinburgh, and Dublin. It was a blast and we hope to visit again one day!

Q: What should I do during my stay in Wimberley?

Spend your wedding retreat, family getaway, or honeymoon weekend here at The Waters Point! You’ll love your stay in our luxury cabins, but with plenty to explore in the beautiful Hill Country, it can be hard to decide what you’re going to do and where you’re going to eat. To help you narrow it down, here is our top pick for this month:

A: Check out the local art!

Wimberley Art

Although Wimberley is 45 minutes away from Downtown Austin, the art scene here is still incredible! Visit the beautiful Wimberley Square and see amazing local art everywhere you look. Wimberley is famous for its painted boots found all throughout our little town, each designed with a bit of Hill Country flair. On the Square, you’ll find several art galleries filled with talented local artists’ work, including Pitzer’s Fine Arts, Art on 12, and Bent Tree Gallery. Also, be sure to visit on the second Saturday of the month for the Wimberley Art Walk! This October, be sure to stop by The Waters Point, where we’ll be hosting the annual Wimberley Arts Fest!

Get to Know Your Wedding Coordinator

Wedding planning can be stressful. We understand that, so at The Waters Point, we make sure to include a day-of coordinator in all of our packages. Here is a glimpse into what our coordinator can do for you!

Meet Chelsea

Chelsea is our lead coordinator here at The Waters Point. As a wedding coordinator, it is her job to make sure your wedding day goes as smoothly as possible so you can get hitched without a hitch! While you are the director of your wedding, a day-of coordinator acts as the stage manager – they make sure that everything is in its place and work behind the scenes so that the show can go on.

This month in our blog, we went into detail about what exactly our wedding coordinator can do for you! To learn more and get some tips and tricks from our very own coordinator, click here.

What advice would a florist give me for planning my wedding?

Cindy with Pluma Blanca shared her advice for couples with us:

“My advice to couples is to choose your colors, theme and overall vision for the wedding. Be open to thinking outside the box, repurpose special items to you and incorporate them into your decor. Creativity can abound even within the smallest budget. My job; as your florist, is to bring your vision to life, showcasing your individuality and personality.”

As a part of Pluma Blanca, Cindy finds joy in being a florist, especially when she delivers the bridal bouquet on the day of the wedding.

“I must say that the favorite part of being a wedding florist is delivering the bridal bouquet to my brides. It brings such joy to my heart when they first see it.”

Be sure to keep an eye on our blog this month for some inspiration from Cindy on how to set up your florals at The Waters Point venue!

Thanks for tuning in!

Until next time, we hope you have an amazing April. We will see you again in May!
